In 2019 at 39, I found myself standing at a crossroads. It was a time of intense transformation, of both joy and fear, as I navigated the overwhelming responsibility of providing for my family while embracing a newfound sense of freedom.
In the chaos, my art was a way to express the profound emotions that words couldn’t capture. That’s when “The Blue Goddess” was born. The original Blue Goddess painting became more than just a painting. It was a reflection of my own spiritual awakening. It was as if something within me had been unlocked. This work more flowed through me, than my mind calculating its creation. The embodiment of beauty, love, hope and mystery. The Blue Goddess could express a part of me that I was unable to adopt. The ancient motifs of the sun, moon, and stars in the painting represent my connection to something greater, a thing without definition that could perhaps be manifested as a higher self or best ideal. Something in me I was just beginning to recognize.
At the same time, I had begun to explore wisdom teachings, and the disciplines of meditation and breathwork. These practices likely played a part in allowing the painting to flow at a level that I could not consciously see. Is “The Blue Goddess” a manifestation of that inner journey, a portrayal of the woman I am becoming? Is it a vision passed through me of how someone special in my life at that time saw me? Maybe it is a combination of both. Perhaps as the collection continues to unfold (I am working on a new addition to the collection now), the answers will become clear, or like so often with things of this nature, more questions will be produced.
Creating this painting was a healing process for me, a way to find beauty and strength in the midst of life’s challenges. It marked the beginning of a new chapter, not just as an artist, but as a woman rediscovering her power, her purpose, and her connection to the divine.
I continue to use my art to explore themes of freedom, spirituality, and the strength that comes from overcoming adversity. Through my work, I hope to inspire others on their own journeys of transformation and self-discovery, just as I was inspired to find my own path.
I hope you will share this journey with me and that in some way, my art inspires you.
